PRIME HOGGETS                 SQQ – 213.28p/kg

Trade continuing into the hoggets with meat being sought after, topping at £123 for R & B Smiths, grading 58kg, a price also achieved by RC Hawes and Sons 63.5kg with PA Hodges continuing his record run to £119.50 (56.5kg). Overweights from RFC Fenemore and Son to £118 and Swanbourne Home Farms to £115. Norman Deeley’s 55.5kg to £114 with George Eaton’s Suffolk x to £113.80 and G Curtis and Sons to £112.50 for meated Continental x. R Randall and Sons run to £110, topping the p/kg at 235p/kg (42.5kg) with 46.5kg from Hogshaw Sheep to 233p/kg and 226p/kg for handyweights from the  Priddles, Warrens and Swanbourne. Broad tooth wethers  £100 to £105 for R Randall and Son for 52 -64kg and 54kg from PA Hodges to £97.20 with 62.5kg from G Eaton to £93.20. Lighter meated goods £80 - £90. Trade may alter over coming weeks as more and more new season lambs come forward so do please keep in touch to monitor trade.

PRIME NEW SEASON LAMBS – 379                   OVERALL AVERAGE – 257.48p/kg

A good way to start the day with the largest entry so far this year at Foscote meeting strong demand as abattoirs start on the new season and the Thame auctioneer is let out of Oxfordshire! The best meat 260 – 270+p/kg topping at 272p/kg for R & B Smith’s 40.5kg Texels with 270p/kg for RJ Osborn and Sons 40kg and 270p/kg for both Mesr Seabrook Partners Continental x and George Eaton’s Charollais x to the same. FC Von Oppenheims marvellously meated Beltex x to 268p/kg with IH Mclaren and Sons 40kg to 265p/kg and RR Barrett to the same. Certainly a day for Suffolks topping with F Pointer at 261p/kg (41kg) and CJ Sabine’s 38.5kg to 260p/kg and £100. Lambs topping in the lump at £115.80 for R Varney (47kg) with DJ Haycock and Sons 46kg to £114.50 and G Eaton’s to £113.20. B Howkins and Son 45.5kg to £111.50 and David Dashwoods weekly consignment topping at £111.20. FC Von Oppenheim to £110 along with PW & GE Hinton and R & B Smith. 39+kg lambs readily £105+ for Seabrook Partners, JE Smith, Cartwright Farms, F Pointer, RJ Osborn & Son, IH Mclaren & Sons, MJ Ludgate and DJ Haycock & Son.

A mixed entry with weight and meat from AJ & MJ Gregory topping at £82 for Charollais with £80 for Continental x from LT Parrott & Sons. £70 for Texel x from TR Reeve with £67.50 for RFC Fenemore’s Texel x and £67 for Hogshaw Sheeps Charollais x lighter mediums. £63 for R & R Farms mixed pen with lighter, leaner goods harder to place unless meated.
